Mikey the Dog needs a home
Mikey is a really sweet dog who is missing his people after coming to us through the pound. We have publicized his presence and waited for a couple of weeks for his people to show up but his family must not know about dogs being held here when they are picked up within the county. (If he only had a registered microchip we could get him back to his people. ) He is microchipped now and his new family who adopts him will be able to register him.
He seems to know that he likes to be on a couch with a person and he keeps his kennel clean, so we believe he has had a good life in a home with a family. The vet who brought him up-to-date on vaccines and tested for Heartworm (turned out negative) thinks he is probably part lab, but no guess as to the other possible breeds mixed in. He came to us already neutered which was another indicator that a loving family was taking good care of him.
Since we have not been able to find that original family Mikey would really like us to find a family who would appreciate him and the great qualities he learned with his first family. Since he might have shared a home with a cat we did do a bit of a cat test to see how he felt about kitties; but, as always with cat tests, it was a bit inconclusive because we always wonder if a different cat's reaction will be what will trigger a different response from the dog. He was 'okay' today with the kitty he met. We have not tried him with other dogs yet. We are always willing to have an approved adopter bring their current dog in to meet one they are considering adopting.
